About the event
Introducing our beginner beekeeping class, the perfect introduction to the world of honey bees and beekeeping. This short course is designed for individuals who have little to no experience with bees, but are interested in learning more about these fascinating insects and how to care for them.
The course will cover the basics of bee biology and behavior, including the life cycle of the honey bee and the roles of the queen, workers, and drones. You will learn about the equipment and tools needed for beekeeping, including protective gear, hives, and hive tools.
Additionally, the course will cover colony management and health, including identifying and treating common diseases and pests. You will learn about the importance of bee nutrition and providing a diverse range of pollen and nectar sources.
The course will also provide hands-on experience (for attendees near the Savannah, GA area), with practical exercises and opportunities to work with live bees under the guidance of experienced beekeepers. By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of the basics of beekeeping and be well-prepared to start your own colony.
This is a short course with classes held over the course of 2 days. Classes will be held on Wednesdays  at 6:00 PM.
