This extensive course is designed for individuals who have little to no experience with bees, but are interested in learning more about these fascinating insects and how to care for them.

The course will cover the basics of bee biology and behavior, including the life cycle of the honey bee and the roles of the queen, workers, and drones. You will learn about the equipment and tools needed for beekeeping, including protective gear, hives, and hive tools.

Additionally, the course will cover colony management and health, including identifying and treating common diseases and pests. You will learn about the importance of bee nutrition and providing a diverse range of pollen and nectar sources.

The course will also provide hands-on experience, with practical exercises and opportunities to work with live bees under the guidance of experienced beekeepers. By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of the basics of beekeeping and be well-prepared to start your own colony.

BEEnevolent Beekeeping Courses Include:

  1. Introduction to the life cycle and biology of honey bees, including the roles of the queen, workers, and drones.
  2. Basic beekeeping equipment and tools, including protective gear, hives, and hive tools.
  3. Understanding colony health and management, including identifying and treating common diseases and pests.
  4. Techniques for queen rearing, including grafting and cell building.
  5. Understanding the genetics of bee breeding and selection of breeding stock.
  6. Understanding the importance of bee nutrition, including providing a diverse range of pollen and nectar sources.
  7. Introduction to honey production and processing, including extracting honey and making wax.
  8. Understanding the role of honey bees in pollination and the importance of bees for the environment.
  9. Review of regulations and laws related to beekeeping.
  10. Hands-on experience with colony management and queen rearing through practical exercises and apprenticeships.
  11. Understanding of the importance of honey bee conservation and the challenges facing honey bee populations.
